Background
Cotton & Stars is a company that specializes in handcrafted fabric bags. The Problem
The company recently went out on its own to pursue other market ventures with the help of new investors in Nebraska. Cotton and stars have been around for about five years, but now it's looking into expanding because they have successfully made their name known among tweens, early high school students as well as women in the 35-45 demographics. They now want to expand to include a wider demographics. The Challenge
Was to create a brand identity to be used for print collateral, digital, and social media that would appeal to a wider demographics. My Process
Research: In my process, I conducted a zoom workshop to learn more about the team, their mission, and future goals. From the initial research and information, I gathered from the workshop I was able to sit down with my sketchbook and sketch to get ideas out of my head and down on paper. My Solution
The logotype for the brand is set in a font that has a classical, timeless feel. The font was chosen for its clean and elegant line. The ampersand is larger to anchor the words on either side of it.The ampersand is intertwined with the N and the S. This gives a sense of strength and stability like textiles that are woven and intertwined. The sewing needle in the ampersand represents the handmade aspect of the brand.
The color palette was chosen to appeal to a wider customer base.
